Merge PDF
PDFs are merged locally in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and the merged file is never stored on a server.
How to use the Merge PDF
- Choose two or more PDF files, or drag them onto the drop area. Your browser keeps them on your device.
- Use the up and down buttons to set the merge order, and remove any file you do not want.
- Select Merge PDF, check the page count and file size, then download the merged PDF.
Examples
- A cover letter and a CV. Put the cover letter first and the CV second to create one file for an application form.
- A signed form and its supporting evidence. Keep the source PDFs in the order the recipient expects, then download one combined document.
- A set of mixed-size PDFs. Portrait, landscape and custom page sizes are preserved page by page; the merge does not force every page onto a new paper size.
How local PDF merging works
CHARTOVANA reads each PDF with the browser’s PDF library and copies its pages into a new document. Page content, dimensions and orientation are kept as they are. Nothing is rasterised, converted to an image, or re-encoded, and no PDF bytes are sent to a server.
What is preserved
- Page content and page order within each source file.
- Different page sizes and orientations.
- Selectable text and vector content where the source PDF contains them.
What this tool does not do
Merging does not remove metadata, annotations or other embedded information. If you need a privacy-cleaned document, use a CHARTOVANA document workflow that includes a privacy inspection before sharing the result. This tool also cannot open password-protected PDFs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need at least two PDFs?
Yes. Merge PDF combines files, so choose at least two. A single selected PDF is explained in the workspace rather than producing a misleading “merge”.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The files are read and combined in this browser tab. There is no document upload, no server processing and no third-party PDF service.
Will page sizes and orientation be preserved?
Yes. Each source page keeps its own dimensions and orientation. Mixed portrait, landscape and custom page sizes remain mixed in the merged document.
Why does a PDF fail to merge?
The file may be encrypted, corrupted, or not actually a PDF. Unlock encrypted PDFs before adding them, and check that renamed files really are PDF documents.
Does merging remove metadata?
No. Merge PDF preserves the source pages and does not claim to sanitise metadata. Use an appropriate privacy-cleaned document workflow if you need metadata inspection or removal.
