Split PDF
Your PDF is processed locally in your browser. It is never uploaded or sent to a PDF service.
How to use the Split PDF
- Choose a PDF or drag it onto the drop area. The page count is read locally in your browser.
- Enter the pages to extract using 1-based numbers or ranges, such as 1, 3, 5-8. Spaces are fine.
- Check the normalized list of selected pages, select Split PDF, then download the extracted PDF.
Examples
- Just the signed page. Enter the page number of a signature page to create a one-page PDF for an upload form.
- A contiguous section. Enter
5-8to extract pages 5, 6, 7 and 8 into a new document. - A non-contiguous collection. Enter
1, 3, 5-8to assemble a small selection while preserving the order you type.
How local PDF page extraction works
CHARTOVANA reads the source PDF with the browser’s PDF library and copies only the pages you select into a new standalone document. Page content, dimensions and orientation are preserved. Nothing is rasterised or re-encoded, and no PDF bytes are sent to a server.
Pages are numbered from 1 in the interface and translated to the PDF’s internal zero-based indexes only while copying. Duplicate page numbers are removed while preserving the first requested order.
What this tool does not do
This is an extraction tool, not a split-into-many-files or ZIP tool. It does not merge files, remove pages from the original, reorder pages, remove metadata, OCR, redact or watermark. It also cannot open password-protected PDFs. If you need metadata inspection or removal, use an appropriate CHARTOVANA document workflow.
Frequently asked questions
What page formats can I enter?
Use 1-based numbers and inclusive ranges separated by commas: 1, 3, 5-8, or 1, 3, 5-8. Spaces inside the input are accepted.
What happens to duplicate pages?
Duplicates are removed while preserving the first occurrence, so entering 2, 1, 2 selects pages 2 and 1 in that order.
Are pages copied or re-encoded?
Pages are copied with their original content, dimensions and orientation. The tool does not rasterise the PDF or convert it to images.
Does this upload my PDF?
No. The PDF is loaded and processed in this browser tab. There is no document upload, server-side processing or third-party PDF API.
Does it remove metadata?
No. Extracted pages are copied into a new PDF, and the tool does not claim to sanitise metadata. Use a privacy-inspected document workflow if metadata removal is required.
