Rotate PDF

Rotate PDF pages directly in your browser. Choose pages, rotate them 90° or 180°, reset them, and download a new PDF with the updated page rotation metadata. The original file is never modified.
Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Your PDF is processed locally in your browser. Page content is copied, never uploaded, and the original is not modified.

How to use the Rotate PDF

  1. Choose a PDF or drag it onto the drop area. The page count and each page’s current rotation are read locally.
  2. Select pages with the checkboxes, or use the per-page Left, Right and Reset controls. Global controls can rotate selected or all pages.
  3. Check the current rotation shown for each page, select Rotate PDF, then download the new PDF.

Examples

  • A sideways scan. Rotate the affected page 90° until the text reads normally, then generate the corrected PDF.
  • A whole landscape document. Use Rotate all 90° to turn every page while keeping the original page dimensions and content intact.
  • A page that is already rotated. The tool starts from the page’s existing rotation metadata and adds your requested rotation on top.

How local PDF rotation works

CHARTOVANA copies the source pages into a new PDF and updates each page’s rotation metadata with pdf-lib. Page content, media boxes, crop boxes and page dimensions are preserved. Nothing is rasterised, rendered to an image, or recompressed.

Existing page rotation is included in the calculation. Rotating a page with 90° of existing rotation by another 90° produces a 180° final rotation, not a blind replacement.

Reset means zero

Reset sets the selected page’s final rotation to 0°, even when the source page already had rotation metadata. The original source PDF is not modified.

What this tool does not do

This tool only changes page rotation metadata. It does not crop, resize, delete, extract, reorder, OCR, redact or watermark pages, and it does not remove metadata. It cannot open password-protected PDFs.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating a page change its dimensions?

No. Rotation is page metadata; the media box and page dimensions are preserved. The page content is copied without rasterisation or recompression.

What happens if the page already has rotation?

The requested rotation is added to the existing page rotation and normalized to 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°. For example, an existing 270° page plus 90° becomes 0°.

How do I reset a rotated page?

Use Reset on that page, Reset selected, or Reset all. Reset targets a final rotation of 0°, including pages whose source file already had rotation metadata.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is loaded and processed in this browser tab. There is no document upload, server-side PDF processing or third-party PDF service.

Does it remove PDF metadata?

No. Page rotation is applied to a new copy and the tool does not claim to sanitise metadata. Use a privacy-inspected document workflow if metadata removal is required.
